Telford, a town in the United Kingdom has a unique bounce electricity-generating pavement that works on a concept similar to Kinetic dance floors which are attracting citizens from all across the town.
Every small step matters when it comes to generating clean and green energy. The UK has taken a step ahead in doing so and getting praise as the UK has installed a new bounce pavement which can generate electricity from people's footsteps to power two nearby public charging points as per a report in BBC.
Telford, Shropshire's largest town has a unique bounce electricity-generating pavement that works on a concept similar to Kinetic dance floors which are attracting citizens from all across the town. When pedestrians walk on this six- meter long pavement it generates electricity, which can be used to charge phones at the charging points.
The footpath is made up of rubber and stainless steel tiles and electricity is generated by the electromagnetic generator present in it. The whole system can generate up to 2.1 watts of electricity per hour. Addressing climate change, the smart pavement is part of an investment of £4 million project by the council. The initiative has been mostly welcomed by locals, but many have reportedly remarked it as an ‘expensive gimmick’.
Although this seems to be a small step imagine if many more like this electricity-generating bouncy pavements can be installed in parks, walkways, jogging places, offices, malls, and other places where people can walk over it then that would generate huge amounts of electricity without fossil fuel and no harmful carbon emission which will be green and sustainable too. This generated energy or electricity can be used for charging, powering appliances or gadgets, light, and many more.
FORCE, an energy-saving device of ENPOSS can be installed to these bounce pavement-powered units and can efficiently reduce the loss of electricity by increasing the flow of electricity. It also reduces electricity utility bills by saving energy hence contributing to reducing carbon emissions.
