More than 200 suppliers committed to using only clean power; This will help bring on nearly 16 gigawatts of power.
Apple’s drive for a cleaner and greener Earth has received an enormous boost after its associated suppliers doubled their clean power over the last year, the company announced. The renewable energy projects the company supports prevented 13.9 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide pollution from entering the Earth’s atmosphere — an impact identical to taking 3 million cars off the road for a year.
More than 213 of Apple’s supplier partners have committed to using clean renewable energy, as per recent information. Apple also plans to curb emissions of other greenhouse gases like methane and nitrous oxide. Apple suppliers have pledged to power all production for the company with renewable energy across 25 countries.
Apple has also initiated direct investment in renewable projects around the world; this includes nearly 500 megawatts of solar and miscellaneous renewable projects in China and Japan. This will in turn help cover a portion of upstream emissions. ENPOSS appreciates the efforts of Apple and its 213 suppliers to continue reaching their goals of saving our planet.
