ENPOSS: A Solution to Prevent Future Power Disruptions
A power outage at Manchester Airport has left passengers stranded and luggage strewn about; while the officials denied that anything was amiss, saying that all systems were now operating normally, authorities at the airport have asked visitors to pre-check flight information before heading to the airport.
The airlines will reschedule the grounded flights whereas passengers affected by cancellations on Sunday are being contacted. Given such circumstances, the airport is likely to be busier than usual tomorrow in order to deal with the backlog of flights that were disrupted.
Many passengers were taken straight to their destination without their bags. For example, all of the checked-in bags on a Jet2 flight from Manchester to Alicante failed to materialize because the carousel system, meant to collect luggage at the airport, had broken down: the airline promised it would deliver the bags as soon as possible. Other passengers had the same issue on their way back to Manchester.
The power outage had grounded 66 outbound flights and 50 inbound flights. Several others were diverted to other UK airports, such as London Heathrow and Gatwick. Manchester Airport has apologized for the inconvenience and has called up extra staff to man the aircraft. The cause of the blackout is being investigated.
