New housing projects to be built on sites destroyed by the Almeda fire

Our client, Mr.Vin, is the owner of one such housing project that helps families who lost their homes to the fire

The Almeda fire in September 2020 destroyed nearly 2600 houses in the Phoenix-Talent area leaving hundreds of families struggling to find a place to live.


Housing projects will be constructed on sites previously occupied by the commercial VS Plaza and Pacific Highway, as both the centers were destroyed by the fire last year. VS Apartments, one such housing project that will be four stories high by following the same footprint of the burned-down center.


It will have 55 units — 16 two-bedroom and 39 one-bedroom apartments, with a variety of floor plans ranging from 625 to 925 square feet. Residents will be able to take advantage of its convenient location that is surrounded by many existing businesses.


The project will be constructed in accordance with the current green, energy-efficiency standards. “The building will be structurally equipped to accept solar panels in the future.” McKechnie, the principal architect said. The construction of VS Apartments on the former VS Plaza site will likely begin in October or November of this year and be completed in early 2023.
